Sandy Pandya
Sandy began her career as a promoter booking bands in her hometown of Regina, Saskatchewan promoting cutting edge bands like Love & Rockets, 10,000 Maniacs, Hunters and Collectors, and Skinny Puppy. With that experience under her belt, Sandy routed herself to Toronto, landing herself a position with the leading indie label, Attic Records before taking a position in marketing at BMG Records.
Sandy followed that up by forming her first booking agency/management firm with like-minded music veteran, Skinny Tenn. Their first clients were The Waltons, followed closely by The Lowest of the Low. The two acts were among the first indie bands in Canada to achieve Gold status for record sales. They broke new ground by simultaneously coveting the front window display at the flagship HMV store at 333 Yonge in Toronto. Sandy was instrumental in defining and developing the indie rock royalty scene that would reign in Canada for the nineties.
Next up came a decade long relationship with singer songwriter Hayden. Sandy aided Hayden in developing and running his own indie label, Hardwood Records, and signing a publishing deal that some have touted as legendary. She broke boundaries with Hayden, truly illustrating the power of the artist. This model paid off as it lead her to secure Tegan and Sara their current record deal as Neil Young’s inaugural signing to his Vapor Records label.
Sandy’s next task was establishing her own company, Pandyamonium Artist Management where she managed and developed Hawksley Workman into a multi-brand personality for nearly a decade. Together they created Isadora Records that saw the release of his first record ‘For Him and the Girls’ followed by his major label, gold selling debut, Lover/Fighter, which went on to have international acclaim. During this time, he was also an accomplished bestselling author for “Hawksley Burns for Isadora” and a renowned producer (Tegan and Sara, Serena Ryder).
Most recently Sandy has steered the careers of Juno Award winning musicians Jully Black and Serena Ryder. Both artists have surpassed Gold on their latest records in a time when that isn’t so easy to achieve. Jully has a thriving career not only as a musician but as a motivational speaker, actor, and celebrity correspondent for CTV’s eTalk Daily. Serena currently has a top 10 hit at Triple A radio in the United States, a song placed on ABC’s “Private Practice”, and two gold records.
Michael Gorman
Michael Gorman’s managerial style comes to him naturally. An artist himself, the way he represents his clients is a reflection of his strong music ethics. His number one asset is his passion. His second is his dedication.
With a diploma in Music from Humber College, Michael began his career on the business side of the fence with an internship at Chris Smith Management (Nelly Furtado, Fefe Dobson, and The Philosopher Kings). In 2004, Michael moved on to the Last Gang family. He quickly became General Manager for Last Gang Management along with posts at Last Gang Publishing and Last Gang Records. His skill and dedication were critical to the fledgling careers of Metric, Death From Above 1979, MSTRKRFT and Crystal Castles. Managing their lives and careers on several different continents, usually in a different time zone than his own, Michael has a remarkable acumen in artist management.
Since early 2008 Michael has been working alongside Sandy Pandya at Pandyamonium Artist Management guiding the careers of Juno Award winners Jully Black and Serena Ryder. Both Jully and Serena are multi-faceted artists, relying on Michael to help steer their paths in the right direction. Michael has proven himself invaluable to their rising stars; helping carve out a precedent-setting deal for Serena with Atlantic Records and helping Jully juggle her different hats that include musician, actor, motivational speaker and celebrity correspondent for eTalk Daily.
Artists have come to recognize that if you’re granted one call, it’s Michael Gorman’s number you’ll want to know by heart.
